Kids Photos….
When you are getting ready to shoot kids it’s a good idea to look at other kids photos as a resource of inspiration. Sometimes looking back at what’s been shot over the years will help guide you in the right direction for your kids photo shoot. Some of these amazing classic kids photos and certainly inspiring.

Today I was surfing on Flickr’s Commons section and my attention was caught by the many many shots of children in the section and particularly found myself marvelling at how things have changed in how we photograph kids.
I thought I’d showcase some classic kids portraiture – both for a little fun but also because I’m actually feeling a little inspired by a few of them and thought they might similarly give some fresh inspiration to others as they go about taking kids photos. Some of the shots are formal portraits, others commercial work, others what we might classify as ‘candid’ portraits. Many of them have the candid feel I like to get in my kids photos.

When you are preparing for a kids photoshoot think about what your background will be, what props you will use, the wardrobe choices you want, and the details that will make the shoot successful. Kids can be a challenge to shoot depending on their mood and the time of day. Being prepared and thinking through the details ahead of time will make your shoot the best it can be!
